Five Grill Favorites With A Twist

Most of us love the smell of food cooking on the grill. The summer barbecue includes favorites like burgers, chicken, steak and of course hot dogs. Everyone knows that burgers and hot dogs are great for grilling, sometimes you need to put a little twist on it.

Here’s some of my favorite grill classics with a twist. Grill something a little bit different with burgers, chicken, steak, pork chops and hot dogs. Just ideas when grilling that will make your mouth water.

Grill and Marinate Pork Chops

Pork Chop Marinade is easy to make and can make your pork chops extra tender and super juicy. Now this takes a little preparation as some marinades for the grill require your pork chops to marinate for 6-12 hours before grilling. My favorite ingredients to add a little zing to a marinade are onion powder, garlic powder, kosher salt and olive oil.

Grilled Chicken Wings

My family loves chicken on the grill. It’s easy to cook and a real family favorite. 15 minute recipes are all over the internet so pick one and make it your own. My go to recipe now is just grill the chicken as usual but make a super zingy dipping sauce with horseradish, sweet onion and chopped capers.

Grilled Steak

Its always the man who thinks he knows all about grilling steak. Well, let him keep thinking that! I’ve become the grilled steak expert at our house and its all because of a little twist i discovered a few years ago. Its a marinade of green onions, olive oil, lemon and peppercorn. Steak is one of those grilled foods that using less is always better. Don’t use too many ingredients because it just hides the great flavor of steak.

Grilled Hot Dogs

Has anyone ever got tired of a nice grilled hot dog? Especially after mowing your lawn! You can make hot dogs a little more interesting with some toppings. Chili and baked beans of course are great additions. Try coleslaw, sweet relish, jalapenos, avocado and my new favorite: sauerkraut and brown mustard.

Grilled Hamburgers

Everybody has their favorite twist when it comes to grilled burgers. But you cant overlook the essential ingredient: Hamburger. This is where you don’t want to go too lean because the fat content helps make the burger tasty. Go for 85/15 or 80/20 hamburger. Mix in some onions, pepper, salt and Dijon mustard for the twist.
